Angola: Inflation edges up in July
Consumer prices in the province of Luanda rose 1.5% in July from the previous month, accelerating from June’s 1.1% increase and marking the highest print so far this year. According to the Statistical Institute, 10 out of index’s 12 sub-components posted month-on-month price increases, led by higher prices for utilities; hotels, cafes and restaurants; and clothing and footwear.
Inflation in the province of Luanda edged up for the first time in seven months in July coming in at 17.6%, accelerating from an over three-year low of 17.3% in June. Nevertheless, annual average inflation continued trending downwards in July, ticking down to an over three-year low of 17.9%, from 18.0% in June.
