Argentina: Consumer confidence remains deeply downbeat in March
The Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) consumer confidence index increased to 38.2 in March from 37.8 in February. Nevertheless, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers.
Consumers were less pessimist over the general economic conditions in the year ahead and they grew less pessimist over their future financial situation. However, households’ willingness to purchase big ticket items weakened considerably.
