Argentina: Consumers’ confidence rises but they remain pessimistic in July
The Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) consumer confidence index rose to 37.9 in July from June’s 34.6. Consequently, the index moved closer to the 50-threshold, below which consumers have a pessimistic outlook and above which consumers have an optimistic outlook. Thus, consumers remained pessimistic, albeit less so.
The increase was mainly driven by consumers expressing greater willingness to purchase durable goods, while, to a lesser extent, an improved personal financial situation and view of the general economy also contributed.
