Argentina: Economic activity growth rises in August
The monthly indicator for economic activity (EMAE) rose 6.4% compared to the same month a year earlier in August, which followed July’s 5.9% increase. The reading reflected a broad-based upturn, with activity in the agriculture, manufacturing and construction sub-sectors all improving in August. Lastly, activity in the hotels and restaurants sector lost pace, while transport and communications output decelerated.
On a monthly basis, economic activity grew 0.4% in August, which was above July’s 0.1% expansion. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of economic activity coming in at 7.4%, down from July’s 8.0%.
