Argentina: Inflation increases in September
Inflation rose to 138.3% in September, following August’s 124.4%. September’s figure marked the highest inflation rate since our current records began.
Annual average inflation rose to 110.5% in September (August: 105.4%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 12.75% in September over the previous month, accelerating from the 12.44% increase logged in August.
Commenting on the release, Andres Perez y Diego Ciongo, analysts at Itaú, stated: “We maintain our inflation forecast at 200% by year end, and a monetary policy rate at 145%. In our view monthly inflation will continue rising at a double-digit pace at least for the rest of the year affected by a wider spread between the official and the parallel exchange rate amid increasing uncertainties on the outcome of the elections”.
