Argentina: Inflation continues to soar in March
National consumer prices jumped 4.7% over the previous month in March, coming in above February’s 3.8% month-on-month increase and marking the fastest increase since October 2018, according to the National Statistical Institute (INDEC).
March’s reading marks the third consecutive month of acceleration in month-on-month price increases. The strongest price rises were recorded for education, clothing and footwear, and food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Meanwhile, inflation rose from February’s 51.3% to a multi-year high of 54.7% in March, while annual average inflation increased from 38.0% in February to 40.4% in the third month of the year.
