Argentina: Merchandise exports slide in October
Merchandise exports dived 32.4% annually in October, following September’s 23.5% plunge. Meanwhile, merchandise imports fell 3.9% in annual terms in October (September: -8.6% yoy), marking the strongest reading since March 2023.
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 0.5 billion deficit in October (September 2023: USD 0.8 billion deficit; October 2022: USD 1.9 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed down, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 4.9 billion deficit in October, compared to the USD 2.6 billion deficit in September.
