Australia: Retail sales growth slows in April
Retail sales increased 0.9% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in April, following March’s 1.6% increase.
The headline reading reflected expansions in clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing; cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services; and food retailing and other retailing.
In annual terms, retail sales expanded 11.1% in April, following the 8.2% increase logged in March. Meanwhile, annual average growth in retail sales slowed to 4.8% in April from 5.6% in March.
