Australia: Retail sales growth improves in September
Retail sales rose 0.9% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in September, which was above August’s 0.3% increase. September’s print marked the best reading since January. The figure was largely driven by a notable rebound in household goods sales. In contrast, clothing and footwear sales decelerated. Lastly, department stores sales accelerated, while cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services sales lost traction.
