Australia: Retail sales rise in May
Retail sales grew 0.7% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in May (April: 0.0% mom). The upturn was primarily driven by upturns in household goods and food retailing sales. Lastly, department stores sales declined at a sharper rate, while cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services sales grew.
On an annual basis, growth in retail sales slowed to 4.2% in May from 4.3% in April
