Austria: Consumer confidence deteriorates in April
Consumer confidence fell to minus 8 in April from March’s minus 6. As a result, the index moved further south of the neutral zero-threshold and indicated greater pessimism among consumers.
The downtick reflected deteriorating views on the economy and households’ financial situation in the past 12 months, while attitudes on the financial situation of households in the year ahead moderated and views on the economy in the same time period worsened. Moreover, sentiment regarding major purchases in the next 12 months dropped markedly.
