Austria: Consumer confidence steady but remains in negative territory in April
Consumer confidence was unchanged at March’s minus 24.0 in April. Thus, the index remained below the 0 threshold separating optimism from pessimism among consumers.
Consumers’ views regarding price developments and intentions to make large purchases over the next 12 months remained unchanged from March. While their expectations regarding the general economic situation were more downbeat, consumers were more optimistic about their current financial situation. Additionally, consumers were slightly less inclined to save.
