Austria: Economic sentiment falls to a six-month low in June
Economic sentiment fell to 86.6 in June from May’s 91.2. June’s result marked the weakest sentiment since December 2023. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected weaker sentiment in the industrial and retail sectors plus softer confidence in the services sector. Meanwhile, sentiment improved in the construction sector and among consumers.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index rose in June.
