Austria: Industrial output growth gains momentum in April
Industrial output surged 2.3% month-on-month in seasonally adjusted terms in April (March: +0.6% mom). Looking at the details of the release, the upturn chiefly reflected a rebound in intermediate goods output and faster momentum in capital goods production. That said, durable consumer goods output contracted in April, and non-durable consumer goods output growth slowed.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.0%, down from March’s minus 1.9% reading.
On an annual basis, industrial production fell at a more moderate pace of 0.5% in April (March: -3.7% yoy).
