Austria: Industrial activity dips in September
Industrial production dropped 1.2% month-on-month in seasonally adjusted terms in September (August: +0.7% mom). Looking at the details of the release, September’s drop was largely driven by a fall in durable consumer goods output. In addition, production contracted in both the capital goods, and non-durable consumer goods sub-sectors.
On an annual basis, industrial production declined 3.2% in September, which was greater than August’s 1.6% fall and marked the worst result since January 2021. Moreover, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at an over two-year low of 0.7% in September, down from August’s 1.4%.
