Austria: Industrial output grows at fastest pace since July 2020 in January
Industrial output expanded 3.6% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in January, which contrasted December’s 1.1% decrease. January’s figure marked the best result since July 2020. January’s reading was partly driven by a notable rebound in durable consumer goods production. In addition, capital goods production dropped at a more moderate pace.
On an annual basis, factory output grew 13.9% in January, notably above December’s 8.0% expansion and marking the best result since June 2021. Accordingly, the trend improved significantly, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 11.2% in January, up from December’s 9.8% reading.
