Austria: Harmonized inflation falls to lowest level since February 2022 in September
Harmonized inflation came in at 5.7% in September, down from August’s 7.5%. September’s reading represented the weakest inflation rate since February 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a softer pace in September. Additionally, housing and utilities price growth moderated. In contrast, prices for transportation rose at a stronger rate.
The trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 9.2% in September (August: 9.7%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 6.0% in September, from the previous month’s 7.4%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.88% from the previous month in September, picking up from the 0.32% increase recorded in August. September’s result was the highest reading since January.
