Austria: Harmonized inflation steadies in November
Harmonized inflation came in at 4.9% in November, unchanged from October’s reading. While above the 2.4% Euro area average, November’s reading marked the joint-lowest inflation rate since January 2022. Looking at the details of the release, the change in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages was largely steady in November. However, prices for transportation dropped after growing in the previous month.
The trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 8.1% in November (October: 8.6%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 5.3% in November, from October’s 5.4%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.17% in November over the previous month, moderating from October’s 0.37% increase. November’s result marked the weakest reading since July.
