Belarus: Industrial production growth slows in August

Industrial production decelerated in August, as output increased 4.3% year-on-year—an eight-month low—down from 5.7% in July. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 6.8% in August, from 7.0% in July.

Industrial output rose 7.1% annually in the January–August period (January–July: +7.5% year-on-year). The print was driven by sturdy growth in the manufacturing sector, which rose 7.4%, down slightly from the 8.1% uptick logged in the previous month. On par with the previous month’s result, the production of machinery and equipment; wood and paper; transport vehicles and equipment; and basic pharmaceuticals and medicinal products all expanded by double-digits in the period, leading the overall growth in the sector.
