Belarus: Industrial production growth accelerates to an over five-year high in January
Industrial production growth surged to 9.7% year-on-year in January, significantly above the 3.9% recorded in December, and the highest reading in over five years. In turn, annual average growth in industrial production rose to 6.4% in January from 6.1% in the previous month, also a five-year high.
The record growth came entirely on the back of a double-digit expansion in the manufacturing sector. Mining and quarrying output remained flat on an annual basis in January, whereas growth in the water supply, waste management and remediation activities, and the electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioning supply sectors slowed year-on year.
