Belarus: Inflation jumps in August
Consumer prices rose 0.1% over the previous month in August, swinging from a 0.2% contraction in July. August’s print was driven by higher non-food prices which more than outweighed lower prices for food. Meanwhile, core prices, which exclude volatile components, rose 0.3% month-on-month in August, down slightly from the 0.4% increase in July.
Inflation rose markedly from the previous month’s 4.1% to 5.0% in August. Meanwhile, annual average inflation edged down to a new record low of 4.7% in August from 4.8% in July.
