Belgium: Economic sentiment rises to six-month high in June
Economic sentiment rose to 95.7 in June from May’s 93.7. June’s result marked the strongest sentiment since December 2023. That said, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected persistent pessimism in the industrial sector and dampened sentiment in the construction sector. Meanwhile, confidence in the services sector improved in June, and sentiment in the retail sector rose in the surveyed month. Lastly, consumer confidence was up in June.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index fell in June.
