Belgium: Economic sentiment eases in July
Economic sentiment fell to 91.2 in July from June’s 95.6. July’s result marked the worst performance since January. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected weaker sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. Meanwhile, confidence among consumers and in the services sector softened in July, whereas sentiment in the retail sector was up in the surveyed month.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index rose in July.
