Industrial output fell 2.7% year on year in calendar-adjusted terms in January, which was a softer contraction than December’s 5.5% decrease. The softer drop was partly due to a less pronounced contraction in manufacturing production.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell 2.0% in January (December: +4.9% mom). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 1.9% in January, down from December’s minus 0.8%.
