Belgium: Industrial production growth slows in May
Industrial output increased 2.5% on a year-on-year seasonally-adjusted basis in May, down from April’s 5.7% result, which had marked the fastest expansion in 28 months. A breakdown by Belgium’s Statistical Institute revealed that muted manufacturing production and a sharper fall in mining output were behind the slowdown.
Annual average industrial output growth, meanwhile, was stable at the previous month’s 1.6% in May.
On a seasonally-adjusted basis, industrial output fell 1.1% from a month earlier (April: +3.2% month-on-month seasonally adjusted).
