Belgium: Industrial production muted in July
Industrial output slowed to 0.6% on a year-on-year seasonally-adjusted basis in July, markedly below June’s 11.6% outturn, which had marked the fastest expansion since July 2010. A breakdown by Belgium’s Statistical Institute reveled that a contraction in manufacturing drove the monthly slowdown. On a brighter note, mining activity recovered slightly.
Annual average industrial output growth, meanwhile, rose to 2.7% from a 2.5% in June.
On a seasonally-adjusted basis, industrial output dived 6.5% from a month earlier (June: +5.4% month-on-month seasonally adjusted).
