Belgium: Harmonized inflation holds steady in July
Harmonized inflation was stable at June’s 5.4% in July. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages plus housing and utilities rose at slower rates in July. However, prices for alcohol and tobacco plus recreation and culture rose faster than in the previous month.
Meanwhile, annual average harmonized inflation rose to 2.5% in July (June: 2.2%). On the flip side, consumer price inflation fell to 3.6% in July from June’s 3.7%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.62% from the previous month in July, swinging from June’s 0.44% rise. July’s result marked the sharpest fall in prices since January.
