Brazil: Business confidence rises at start of 2019
Business sentiment in Brazil improved in January, with the Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (FGV, Fundaçao Getúlio Vargas) business confidence index rising to 98.2 points from a revised 95.6 points in December (previously reported: 94.8 points). Despite the rise, the index lies below the 100-point threshold and signals pessimism among firms.
According to the FGV, the improvement was driven by firms’ less downbeat assessments of both the current and future economic situations.
