Brazil: Sentiment deteriorates among consumers but improves among industrial-sector business in November
The seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) declined to 93.0 in November, marginally below the prior month’s 93.2. November’s result marked the weakest sentiment in five months. As such, the index moved further below the 100-point threshold, indicating starker pessimism among Brazilian consumers.
Conversely, the seasonally adjusted industrial business confidence index rose to 92.7 in November, up from October’s 90.8. November’s result marked a five-month high. As such, the index moved closer to, but remained below, the 100-point threshold, signaling ongoing pessimism among industrial firms.
