Bulgaria: Growth in industrial output steadies in December
In December, industrial production expanded 2.0% over the same month of the previous year in working-day adjusted terms, matching the revised 2.0% expansion in November (previously reported: +1.7% year-on-year). December’s expansion was driven by growth in manufacturing, which more than offset contractions in mining and quarrying, and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply. Higher manufacturing output was supported by double-digit expansions in numerous components, including the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, as well as basic metals.
A month-on-month comparison shows that industrial production rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.7% in December, which came in just below the 0.8% expansion observed in November. Annual average growth in industrial production moderated from 4.1% in November to 3.6% in December.
