Bulgaria: Inflation falls to lowest level since April 2021 in May
Inflation dropped to 2.3% in May, from April’s 2.4%. May’s result marked the weakest inflation rate since April 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a softer pace in May, while prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels were largely steady from the previous month’s reading. Meanwhile, transportation prices increased.
Annual average inflation fell to 5.1% in May (April: 5.7%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation ticked up to 2.7% in May from April’s 2.5%.
Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.24% from the previous month in May, a more moderate decrease than April’s 0.32% drop.
