Bulgaria: Inflation falls to lowest level in three years in April
Inflation fell to 2.4% in April, which was down from March’s 3.0%. The reading marked the lowest inflation rate since April 2021. The sharp deceleration was primarily driven by slower growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, health, and hospitality. In addition, recreation and culture costs dived in the month. On the flipside, prices for clothing and transport rose at a quicker pace.
Annual average inflation fell to 5.7% in April (March: 6.5%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation fell to 2.5% in April, from March’s 3.1%.
Finally, consumer prices dropped 0.32% from the previous month in April, swinging from March’s 0.18% rise. April’s result marked the weakest reading since June 2023.
