Bulgaria: Inflation increases in July
Consumer prices rose 0.77% over the previous month in July, contrasting June’s 0.21% drop. July’s figure marked the sharpest increase in prices since January 2020, and was driven by rising housing and transport costs, while food prices also fell at a softer rate this month.
Inflation ticked up to 3.0% in July, slightly above June’s 2.7%. July’s result was the highest inflation rate since March 2020. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 1.1% in July (June: 1.0%). Lastly, harmonized inflation fell to 2.2% in July, from June’s 2.4%.
