Bulgaria: Inflation picks up in February
Consumer prices rose 0.3% in February from the previous month, matching the print observed in January. According to the Statistical Institute, the increase reflected higher prices in 9 out of the 12 categories that make up the index; prices were unchanged in 1 category and fell in the remaining 2. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and communications were the two components that increased the most, while prices for clothing and footwear was the component that dropped the most.
Inflation increased from 1.8% in January to 2.0% in February. Lastly, average inflation remained steady in February at January’s 2.1% reading.
