Bulgaria: Inflation at seven-year high in January
Consumer prices increased 0.9% from the previous month in January, following December’s 0.7% rise. According to the Statistical Institute, January’s increase largely reflected higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, recreation and culture and housing and utilities which more than offset lower prices for clothing and footwear.
Meanwhile, inflation soared to 4.2% from December’s 3.8%, marking the highest level since January 2013. Lastly, annual average inflation inched up from 3.1% in December to 3.2%.
