Bulgaria: Inflation comes in at highest level since July 2008 in March
Consumer prices increased 2.22% from the previous month in March, following the 1.36% rise recorded in February. March’s figure was the highest reading since August 2007. The reading was driven by rising prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, as well as transport.
Inflation rose to 12.4% in March from February’s 10.0%. March’s result represented the highest inflation rate since July 2008. Annual average inflation rose to 6.0% in March (February: 5.0%). Finally, harmonized inflation rose to 10.5% in March, from February’s 8.4%.
