Bulgaria: Inflation drops in June
Inflation came in at 8.7% in June, which was down from May’s 10.1%. June’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate since December 2021. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices fell at a quicker pace in June compared to the previous month, while price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels eased.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 15.0% in June (May: 15.8%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation fell to 7.5% in June, from the previous month’s 8.6%.
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.41% over the previous month in June, a sharper drop than the 0.14% drop logged in May. June’s result marked the weakest reading since September 2020.
