Bulgaria: Inflation falls to lowest level in a year in March
Inflation came in at 14.0% in March, which was down from February’s 16.0%. March’s result represented the weakest inflation rate since March 2022. The slowdown was largely driven by softer growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased at a softer pace, while prices for transport declined.
That said, annual average inflation rose to 16.5% in March (February: 16.4%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation fell to 12.1% in March, from February’s 13.7%.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.47% over the previous month in March, below February’s 0.78% increase. March’s result marked the weakest reading since September 2021.
