Bulgaria: Inflation falls to lowest level since May 2022 in January
Inflation dropped to 16.4% in January, following December’s 16.9%. January’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since May 2022. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for food, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels eased, while transportation prices rose at a quicker pace in January compared to the previous month.
However, annual average inflation rose to 15.9% in January (December: 15.3%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation edged down to 14.1% in January, from December’s 14.3%.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 1.10% in January over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.91% increase seen in December. January’s figure was the highest reading since September 2022.
