Bulgaria: Inflation falls to over two-year low in March
Inflation fell to 3.0% in March, down from February’s 3.3%. March’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate since July 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a more moderate rate in March, although prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose at a largely steady rate compared to the previous month’s reading. Meanwhile, transportation prices expanded at a stronger pace.
Annual average inflation fell to 6.5% in March (February: 7.4%). Meanwhile, harmonized inflation fell to 3.1% in March, from the previous month’s 3.5%.
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.18% in March over the previous month, a smaller increase than the 0.30% rise recorded in February. March’s result marked the weakest reading since September 2023.
