Chile: Business sentiment improves but remains pessimistic in January
Business confidence came in at 37.8 in January, up from December’s 35.6. As such, the index remained well below the 50-point threshold, signaling sustained pessimism among businesses.
January’s reading was driven by milder pessimism in the mining sector. Additionally, sentiment in the retail and industrial sectors also became less pessimistic. In contrast, firms’ sentiment in the construction sector deteriorated marginally.
