Chile: Consumer confidence deteriorates in April
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index dropped to 24.9 points in April, from 29.2 points in March, marking the weakest result in 10 months. Consequently, the index moved further below the critical 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among Chilean consumers.
Consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items and the economic outlook for the next year worsened from the previous month, as did sentiment regarding current general economic conditions and personal financial conditions. Moreover, expectations on the stability of the country in the next five years weakened marginally.
