Chile: Consumer confidence deteriorates in March
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index dropped to 29.2 points in March, from 32.0 points in February, which had marked the strongest result in 12 months. Consequently, the index moved further below the critical 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among Chilean consumers.
Consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items and the economic outlook for the next year weakened from the previous month, as did sentiment regarding current general economic conditions and personal financial conditions. Meanwhile, expectations on the stability of the country in the next five years remained virtually unchanged.
