Chile: Consumer confidence falls in August
Consumer confidence fell to 91.8 in August from July’s 97.0. August’s result marked the worst reading since October 2021, and pointed to moderately pessimistic sentiment. Consumer confidence has likely been dampened in recent months by higher inflation and interest rates, and the drying-up of past fiscal stimulus.
Looking at subsectors, sentiment regarding future conditions worsened, while sentiment on current conditions improved somewhat.
