Chile: Consumer confidence ticks down in January
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index dipped to 29.5 points in January, from 29.8 points in December. Therefore, the index moved further below the critical 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among Chilean consumers.
Consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items and the economic outlook for the next year deteriorated from the previous month. On the other hand, sentiment regarding current general economic conditions and personal financial conditions improved slightly, and expectations on the stability of the country in the next five years strengthened.
