Chile: Consumer confidence remains in positive territory in February
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index (IPEC, Índice de Percepción de la Economía) dipped slightly from 51.5 in January to 51.1 in February. However, the index remained above the 50-point threshold separating optimism from pessimism among consumers for the third straight month.
February’s dip was caused by a less positive outlook regarding the country’s economic stability over the next five years and consumers’ reduced willingness to purchase major household items. On the other hand, consumers’ economic expectations for the country over the next 12 months improved, while they became more optimistic concerning both the country’s and their own current economic situation.
