Chile: Consumer confidence ticks up in December
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index rose to 29.8 points in December, from 29.5 points in November. However, the index remained firmly entrenched below the critical 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among Chilean consumers.
Sentiment regarding current general economic conditions and personal financial conditions improved slightly, and consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items strengthened sizably. On the other hand, expectations on the stability of the country in the next five years and the economic outlook for the next year deteriorated considerably from the previous month.
