Chile: Consumer confidence ticks up in September
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index rose to 26.5 points in September, from 25.5 points in August, marking the strongest reading in six months. However, the index remained entrenched below the critical 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among Chilean consumers.
September’s improvement was broad-based. Sentiment regarding the economic outlook for the next year; current general economic conditions; personal financial conditions; expectations on the stability of the country in the next five years; and consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items, all improved from the previous month.
