Chile: Consumer sentiment rises in February but remains largely pessimistic
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index rose to 32.7 points in February, from 30.4 points in January. Nevertheless, the index remained deeply entrenched below the critical 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among Chilean consumers.
February’s print reflected an across-the-board improvement in all five subcomponents of the index, although all of them remained in negative territory. Notably, consumers’ assessment of the country’s current condition improved the most in February, followed by their perception of their current personal financial situation and their outlook for the country’s stability in the next five years.
