Chile: Inflation falls in April
Consumer prices were flat in April over the last month, after March’s 0.3% rise. A faster increase in prices for food and beverages was largely offset by lower prices for clothing and footwear, and transport.
Inflation came in at 3.4% in April, slightly below March’s 3.7%. April’s result marked the lowest inflation rate since December 2019. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up mildly with annual average inflation coming in at 2.8% in April (March: 2.7%). Lastly, core inflation fell to 2.3% from March’s 2.5%.
